Organists

The Drive happens to have, by sheer coincidence, two of the country’s most well—known professional organists to play the organ for the weekly Sunday services.

Dr. Kevin Morgan, F.R.C.O. (right in the photo) is Director of Keyboard Studies at Stonyhurst College near Clitheroe in Lancashire and, in addition, is a very popular artist on the theatre organ and electronic organ concert circuit, traveling to fulfill engagements across the length and breadth of the country as and when time allows, usually during school holidays.

Kevin has been Organist and Choirmaster at The Drive since 2003 where his dedication to upholding the church’s musical traditions is greatly appreciated by congregation and choir members alike.

Although Kevin invariably leads our weekly choir rehearsal, because he is committed to Sunday morning duties at Stonyhurst and is, therefore, prevented from playing the organ at The Drive during term-time, the majority of the Sunday services are accompanied by Nigel Ogden (left in the photo) who has been a member of the church since 2012 and is probably best known as the Presenter of the weekly BBC Radio 2 programme ‘The Organist Entertains’, a position he has held since March 1980.

Nigel’s own concert engagements around the British Isles sometimes lead to a situation where neither he nor Kevin are available to play and, on such occasions, the church officials are delighted that they are still able to call upon the services of Mr. Brian Grimes who was Organist and Choirmaster at The Drive for 25 years.
